ABSTRACT

【Objective】 To explore the influencing factors of repeated blood donation through statistical analysis of demographic characteristics and blood donation behavior of blood donors, so as to provide data support for the formulation and adjustment of blood donor recruitment and retention strategies. 【Methods】 Whole blood donors in Dongguan from 2016 to 2019 were classified and defined. The data of gender, age, occupation, education level, number of blood donors, frequency of blood donation and interval of blood donation were extracted. The descriptive analysis methods such as logistic regression analysis and constituent ratio were used for retrospective analysis. 【Results】 There were 216 543 whole blood donors in Dongguan from 2016 to 2019, of which males, females, first-time blood donors, repeated blood donors and lapsed blood donors accounted for 62.3%(134 823/216 543), 37.7%(81 720/216 543), 27.4%(59 408/216 543), 9.7%(20 912/216 543) and 57.6% (124 699/216 543), respectively, and the proportion of first-time blood donors and lapsed blood donors was relatively high. Gender, age, occupation and education level were the influencing factors of repeated blood donation, among which age showed less impact while education level and occupation showed a greater impact. 【Conclusion】 Donors who are male, aged 26~45, with stable occupation, college degree or above, and with donation interval within 2 years(especially returned in the first year) are the key groups to be recruited and retained. As for students, the special group, who aged 18~25, with college degree or above and first-time blood donors within the first year, corresponding measures should be formulated to increase the retention rate of blood donors, reduce the recruitment cost and improve the re-donation rate.

ABSTRACT

【Objective】 To understand the situation of free blood use of blood donors in Changsha to explore the correlation between free blood use of donors and repeated blood donation behaviors, so as to provide a theoretical basis for the recruitment of voluntary blood donations. 【Methods】 A total of 260 voluntary blood donors were selected by random sampling and divided into reimbursed group(n=97) and unreimbursed group(n=163), based on the results of a questionnaire, inquiring their using of free blood. 【Results】 The reimbursed group differed from the unreimbursed group in all dimensions, including behavioral attitude dimension(Z=3.250, P<0.05), subjective behavioral norm dimension(Z=4.576, P<0.05), and perceptual behavioral control dimension(Z=7.255, P<0.05) and the total score of the scale(Z=8.625, P<0.05), and the differences were statistically significant. 【Conclusion】 The intention to donate again was stronger in donors who experienced free blood use than those didn’t. Such donors are suitable candidates for blood donor recruitment. It is recommended to develop a suitable recruitment strategy for this population and further guarantee the clinical use of blood.

ABSTRACT

【Objective】 To investigate the positive and negative influencing factors concerning repeated blood donation among college students, in order to provide reference for the maintenance and retention of college student blood donors. 【Methods】 The questionnaire was made in terms of motivators, barriers and social supports related to repeated blood donation based on relevant literature at home and broad and the results of semi-structured interviews. From November to December 2020, 1 200 college donors from 10 colleges in Guangzhou were selected. The results of questionnaires were analyzed with Chi-square test and multivariate logistic regression by SPSS 26.0. 【Results】 Good for health, shortage of blood, favorable policy concerning blood donation, and blood need of family members were the four motivators of repeated blood donation. The inconvenience of blood donation location and dissatisfaction with blood donation souvenir were the two barriers. In addition, encouragement from classmates and curiosity were the two motivators, and harmful to health was the barrier in first-time college blood donors. 【Conclusion】 Blood banks should strengthen the publicity of blood related knowledge, preferential policies concerning blood donation, and status of blood collection and supply, etc, make full use of the influence of peers and the favorable environment of colleges to form a right atmosphere for blood donation, and enhance the reputation and service of blood banks.

ABSTRACT

【Objective】 To investigate the status of blood safety and the effectiveness of preventive measures. 【Methods】 The data of Fengxian Blood Bank from 2018 to 2020 were extracted from Shanghai blood collection and supply information system. HBsAg sero-conversion samples of repeated blood donors were confirmed, and HBV serologic supplemental test were performed to obtain the number of new infections during the blood donation interval. The incidence and residual risk of HBV infection were evaluated by the sero-conversion model in donation intervals for repeated donors, and residual risk trend between the study period of 2002 to 2005, 2007 to 2011, 2011 to 2013 and 2018 to 2020 was compared. 【Results】 During 2018~2020, nine new HBV infections occurred among repeated donors during blood donation interval, with an incidence rate of 2.71 per 10 000. The residual risk of window period HBV transmission by transfusion could be reduced by 58.33% using HBsAg test plus NAT (HBsAg test 1∶30 637 vs HBsAg test plus NAT 1∶73 529). The residual risk of HBV transmission was decreasing when stratifying by periods, especially one order of magnitude dropped in 2018~2020 as in comparison of 2002 to 2005. 【Conclusion】 The residual risk of HBV transmission by transfusion showed a decrease trend. Although NAT could greatly reduce the risk, comprehensive preventive measures are needed to further reduce the risk.

ABSTRACT

Objective To compare with the characteristics of different demographic and blood donation behaviors of the first blood donors and the repeated blood donors,to analyze the related factors influencing the repeated blood donation behavior,to provide the evidence to develop the recall strategy for the retention of the first-time donors strategies. Methods Use methods such as the composition ratio of descriptive analysis, and logistic regression analysis,Retrospectively analyzed the data of 3 226 571 cases of the whole blood donors in Zhejiang province from 2006 to 2015.from BIS2.0 Results ZheJiang repeated blood donors in 2006-2015 is accounted for 30.8%,men (57.8%),the proportion of aged 25 above is higher than the first blood donors;71.7% of men in the repeated blood donors are 60-79 kg,52.2% of women repeated blood donors are 50 to 59 kg;40% of the repeat donors blood for the first time donate 400 mL;71.6% of the repeated blood donors to donate again in 0.5-2 years, and of these,40.8% back in 0.5-1 year. Conclusion The main factors on the demographic aspects that influence the repeated blood donation is occupation, cultural degree, the quantity of blood donation for the first time. The characteristics of the precise recall people are as follows:Age 26 to 45 years old, stable career, donate 400 mL for the first-time,weight 70-89 kg of male, weight 55 kg above of women. The better recall intervention Interval is preferred to 0.5-2 years, and 0.5-1 year is the best.
